Andile Ngcaba appointed to Innovation Council

Cabinet has approved Andile Ngcaba’s appointment to the National Advisory Council on Innovation, where he joins the ranks of other business leaders, academics and economists. The council aims to provide the minister of science and technology with input on national matters around innovation. Last year, the council’s advice highlighted regulatory issues in the bioeconomy environment and assisted the Department of Science and Technology to put together the National Bioeconomy Strategy.
Ngcaba, who founded Convergence Partners and is currently executive chairman of Dimension Data’s Middle East and Africa unit, joins other well-known South Africans such as Sibusiso Sibisi, CEO of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research; economist Azar Jammine; and Sim Tshabalala, joint Standard Bank CEO.
The council, which has been appointed for a four-year term, will be chaired by University of Pretoria vice-chancellor professor Cheryl de la Rey.
