Convergence Partners’ investee company, SEACOM, has launches its Cape Town point-of-presence (PoP), growing its African footprint.

Pan-African ICT firm Seacom has launched a PoP in Cape Town, in a bid to better link undersea cables along Africa’s Eastern and Western coastlines.

The Seacom PoP in Cape Town is further expected to boost customers’ ability to access and terminate services in the city.

The facility is located in the Carrier Netural Teraco CT-1 datacentre in Rondebosch.

“Seacom has traditionally connected Africa to Europe, but we are now also increasingly improving inter-Africa connectivity and helping African and European carriers to grow their African footprint. With direct links to the East and West African undersea cable systems, our new Cape Town PoP gives current and future SEACOM customers yet another option to choose from.” says Seacoms chief executive officer, Mark Simpson.
