Convergence Partners honours Madiba’s birthday by devoting 67 mi
“Take action, inspire change.” To commemorate Nelson Mandela Day 2013, the Convergence Partners team spent a morning at Freedom Park Primary School outside of Soweto, rolling-up its sleeves to paint two classrooms as well as donating a notebook, printer and projector. Freedom Park is a school that has successfully created a safe and enjoyable place of learning for children from the very underprivileged surrounding areas. Under the stewardship of headmaster Mr. Sbu Ndebele, assisted by a committed group of teachers, the school has build itself up over a 10 year period into a successful learning institution for its enthusiastic scholars.
The 67 minutes are designed to remind us to honour the sacrifices Mandela has made for this country by each making our own personal contributions to development of our country. In particular, Madiba is passionate about the welfare of children and the critical role of education. Convergence Partners was proud to play its small part in the special Mandela Day initiative to try make underprivileged learners’ daily lives better.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Madiba, his family and the country over this difficult time of his ill health.
