Dimension Data has been recognised as South African leading prov
Dimension Data, a Convergence Partners’ investee, has been recognised as the leading provider of IT services to the South African market by IT market research and advisory firm IDC. In IDC’s South African IT Services Market 2012-2016 Forecast and Vendor Shares report released in September 2012, Dimension Data is positioned as the leading IT services provider in South Africa in 2011, with an estimated 14.4% market share.
Dimension Data ranked first in three market categories, which include hardware support and installation services, with 20.5% market share; network and desktop outsourcing services, with 31.8% market share; and hosted application management services, with 24.1% share.

According to the report, Dimension Data successfully met the stringent criteria, including presence in individual vertical markets, and the company’s largest contracts and case studies critical to achieving a superior level of merit, when compared to that of key competitors within the South African ICT industry. Through large key wins, Dimension Data has continuously demonstrated its ability to integrate and deliver complex projects.
The IT services market in South Africa grew healthily in 2011, with growth driven by increasing uptake of outsourcing services – specifically, hosting managed services – as organisations became more familiar with outsourcing models. “Dimension Data is positioned favourably as a major player in the South African market,” says IDC South Africa research analyst and report author, Suzanne Marsay.
