Convergence Partners team rolls up sleeves to devote their 67 mi
For our 67 minutes of giving on Nelson Mandela Day, the Convergence Partners team rolled-up its sleeves to plant the vegetable garden at Sparrow Combined Training Centre in Sophiatown. Sparrow Combined is a technical vocational skills training centre that caters for learning and intellectually disabled youth between the ages of 14 and 18.
The 67 minutes to us brings back the sacrifices Mandela has made for this country. He played a huge role in the unification of the people of South Africa, and the team Convergence Partners was proud to play its small role in the special Mandela Day initiative that will feed the underprivileged.
The vocational skills programme at Sparrow offers learners the opportunity to participate in carpentry, welding, clothing, catering, motor mechanics and creative design and productions. All practical skills are complimented by accredited ABET numeracy and literacy classes, comp-typing and entrepreneurship training. Sparrow aims to source opportunities for its learners to gain work experience in an appropriate workplace.
“There is nothing more important in life than giving.” Nelson Mandela.
