Convergence Partners makes R100 000 donation to Eastern Cape edu

In line with its ongoing commitment to education activities, Convergence Partners has decided to make a donation of R100 000 to the Masibumbane Development Organisation.

Convergence Partners has been focused on contributing to educational upliftment activities since its inception six years ago, believing education is crucial to advance social and economic development in Africa.

Past activities in the education arena include the award of tertiary education bursaries; the provision of computer labs as well as physical infrastructure improvements to schools and participating in the Dimension Data CSI program to roll out computers with e-learning systems to a number of schools in all the provinces of South Africa.  Seacom, another Convergence Partners investee company, has also made available heavily subsidised bandwidth to universities in Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and Mozambique, providing savings of many millions of dollars to these institutions.

It is in this spirit that Convergence Partners decided to make a cash donation of R100 000 to Masibumbane, a development organisation focused on mobilising resources and designing programmes that focus on education and social development needs in the Eastern Cape at community level to assist the province to regain its status as a centre of exellence in education in Southern Africa.
